Starting Over

Moving on, it seems so final
Like the last line of a song,
The final note sticks in my throat,
Hours after the music’s gone.

Departure dates, come hurtling closer,
Fast as flurries of winter snow.
Burying the hope of spring,
Though it’s under the surface, I know.

And goodbye seems like forever,
The end of you for me.
You may refuse, but its no use
The truth’s right there to see.

The day will come,
When you’ve moved on
And I’m still here.

Till a note rings to shatter,
The silent tomb I’ve made my heart.
The snows will melt, the birds all sing.
And from my throat the words will ring.

There is nothing left,
But the tears that I cry.
“I’ve moved on now,
I still love you but,
